MaineHealth Primary Care provides expert care for the whole family in Bath, Brunswick and Topsham. Our family medicine, internal medicine and pediatric care providers offer convenient, patient-centered care that fits your busy schedule. From newborns to older adults, we focus on your overall health and well-being, not just a single problem or illness.

Primary care is your first stop for health care

We are here to answer your health questions, provide preventive care, order tests, prescribe medications, help you manage chronic conditions and access specialty care when needed. The best way to stay healthy and well is to see a primary care physician for regular check-ups. That way, problems can be caught and treated early, often preventing chronic conditions and hospital care.

You can count on us for:

  • Compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Shared decision making
  • Same day appointments

Virtual care helps you manage your health and stay connected to your care team, even when you can't leave your home. MaineHealth uses secure telehealth technology to provide high-quality care to our patients and communities. We offer telehealth video or telephone visits to patients of most outpatient locations across our health system.

A telehealth visit is like a regular health care appointment without having to travel to a doctor’s office. Instead of meeting in person, you’ll speak with a care team member using a phone or computer. You can use your computer, smartphone or tablet. Just like a regular health care appointment, you can use a telehealth visit to discuss medical concerns, symptoms, get a prescription, a diagnosis and more.

All of our primary care locations are all designated as patient-centered medical homes. PCMH certification is a symbol of quality that is only earned by successfully passing a strict review process. This means that you can trust our practices to have the right staff, tools, systems and resources to provide you and your family with highest quality medical care.

Choose a primary care provider who is the best fit for you and your family:

  • Family medicine doctors have special training to provide medical care to patients of all ages. Family doctors can care for your entire family.
  • Pediatricians are specially-trained to diagnose and treat children. Pediatricians also provide well-child visits.
  • Internal medicine doctors, also known as internists, diagnose and provide treatment for adults.
  • Family nurse practitioners are registered nurses with specialized training to deliver care that is focused on the family. They diagnose illnesses, preform exams and prescribe medicine. They work in primary and specialty care practices, such as cancer care, heart care or pain management.
