Expert speech therapy services in Rockport, Maine
We take a family-centered approach to care. Whether for children with developmental delays or adults recovering from illness or injury, family support is an important part of successful treatment.
For pediatric patients, this means that one or both parents usually attends therapy sessions with their child. A spouse, close friend or caregiver may accompany adult patients. By playing an active role in the evaluation and therapy sessions, family members gain a better understanding of their loved one's condition and support needs.
Coordinated care
Because we are part of the MaineHealth integrated health system, we are able to provide coordinated care across all stages of illness and recovery. From acute care at MaineHealth community hospitals to outpatient visits at our practice in Rockport. When appropriate, consultations are provided at local schools, for children, and in the workplace, for adults.
More about our services
People living with Parkinson’s disease often have difficulty with speech and swallowing. These symptoms start early in the disease process and can progressively diminish quality of life. Our expert speech pathologists use the Lee Silverman Voice Therapy (LVST) method to help patients improve these functions through therapeutic exercises. Conditions commonly treated include:
- Soft voice
- Mumbled speech
- Monotone speech
- Hoarse voice
Physicians may refer patients directly to our practice. Referrals are also received from Maine Child Development Services, under the direction of a physician.
Most of our services are covered by private insurance, Medicare, MaineCare or Child Development Services.
