Inpatient behavioral health care
Inpatient services are available for patients 18 years of age and older. Patients receive acute psychiatric care and substance use disorder treatment in a secure, hospital unit. All care team members are specially trained to help prevent and de-escalate agitated and violent behavior. Care is provided on both a voluntary and involuntary basis.
Our experienced, multidisciplinary team includes physicians, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, CNAs, social workers, mental health workers, registered occupational therapists, certified occupational therapist assistants and licensed substance abuse counselors. MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital hospitalists, dieticians, chaplains and respiratory therapists provide additional support as needed.
