In a support group, you can meet other people who are going through the same challenges that you face. Most support groups are run by trained facilitators who will help ensure that sensitive information stays in the group and that it is a safe and supportive experience. Support groups can help you to:
- Deal with difficult emotions
- Feel less alone
- Provide hope for the future
- Navigate the challenges that come with having cancer.
You can find support groups:
- In your community
- At the place you get treated
- Online
Even if you are not sure whether support groups are right for you, give them a try by attending at least one. You may find that your support group is one of the most valuable parts of your care during cancer.
