The fellowship is a multidisciplinary program with a curriculum that spans multiple departments, clinical services and community organizations. We offer two distinct fellowship tracks, both of which include inpatient and outpatient experiences in Portland, ME. Our general addiction medicine track includes four months of training at the Togus VA Medical Center, located five miles east of Augusta, ME. This is a 67 operating-bed facility with general medical, surgical, intermediate and mental health beds, and strong addiction medicine programs. Our rural addiction medicine track includes four months of training in one of two rural regions, centered in either Norway, ME or Farmington, ME. Rural training includes inpatient consults at the regional hospital, outpatient clinic time, and experiences with local community-based organizations
Our Mission
Our mission is to train physicians to be leaders in the field of addiction medicine (AM). AM fellows will be compassionate patient care providers, lifelong learners and teachers, and healthy contributing members of their communities.

It's important to take good care of yourself during post-graduate training so you can fully fully participate in your education and patient care.
