Pulmonary & Critical Care Fellowship

Established in 1974, the MaineHealth Maine Medical Center (MHMMC) Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship program is a three-year combined pulmonary disease and critical care medicine fellowship fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Our principal training sites are MHMMC (Portland and Brighton campuses), the MaineHealth Institute for Research, and Chest Medicine Associates. The program presently enrolls two fellows per year.

Our program offers a broad clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic respiratory diseases in the inpatient (ICU and Consult Services) and outpatient settings, as well as extensive experience in a large tertiary care ICU with exposure to medical, surgical, cardiovascular and neurocritical care, as well as an active ECMO program. MHMMC provides strong exposure to clinical research and fellows have extensive dedicated research time to engage in mentored research and quality improvement.

Our goal is to produce thoughtful, experienced and highly competent pulmonary and critical care medicine physicians who have broad experience in clinical care and research and who are ready to practice in a broad variety of settings or pursue further subspeciality training.
