Alumni Testimonials
Here’s what our former graduates say about the MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Geriatric Medicine Fellowship:
“Five years into practice as medical director at a VA nursing home, I find myself using the skills and knowledge I acquired at MMC Geriatrics every single day. In addition to the rock-solid foundation in general geriatric medicine, the specialty experiences including geriatric psychiatry and rehab medicine, allow me to take quality, comprehensive care of my patients. Stepping into my current role without my fellowship training would have been like starting a hike without a map. Instead, I was able to seamlessly step in to a busy role and take on leadership positions with confidence. Add to that the highest quality faculty around and you really can’t go wrong with MMC Geriatrics!” – Kathyrn Ndzana, MD (2015), Medical Director, VA Wilkes-Barre Community Living Center
“MMC geriatrics prepared me to care for geriatric patients in multiple care settings. The program really prepared me to work with an interdisciplinary team and find resources within the community to support my patients. It also helped ignite a desire and know how to implement programs in my community.” – Josaleen Davis, MD (2011), Complex Care for Senior Providers Lead, Senior Health
“There is no better place to train in Geriatrics than MMC. The community and surrounding area provide a wide range of older patients and the challenges mentally, physically and emotionally that they face with the aging process. There is a great balance of in-patient and out-patient experiences which really give you a chance to learn how to take care of this growing population. I have brought back the things I learned during my fellowship to our family medicine residency to improve their training in the care of our aging population. The BEST thing about Geriatrics at MMC is the faculty and staff you get to work with. They are knowledgeable and experienced geriatricians who are wonderful teachers. I loved my fellowship and would recommend it to anyone looking for the best training.” – Nikki Clark, MD, FAAFP (2015), Utah Valley Family Medicine Residency; Past President- Utah Academy of Family Physicians; President- Elect Medical Staff- Utah Valley Hospital, Provo, UT
