MaineHealth Critical Care Portland provides thorough evaluation, treatment, and follow-up for patients with pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the lungs). Patients are seen on an inpatient basis on the MaineHealth Portland campus and on an outpatient basis at Chest Medicine Associates in South Portland, Maine.

- Catheter-directed thrombolysis

Therapeutic services stress coordination of care with the referring primary physician to provide high quality care for pulmonary embolism patients. Patient education and support is provided by physicians, and advanced practice provider specialists. Therapies such as thrombolytic and anticoagulation therapies, CTEPH medication management, home oxygen therapy, and coordination of care for pulmonary thromboendarterectomy are provided for patients as needed. Other investigational treatment options may also be available to suitable patients.
