We are so thankful for the many important hospital programs, services and equipment purchases have been made possible thanks to funds donated to MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital (MHBBCH) and its Children's Miracle Network by individuals, businesses and organizations as well as community events. For example:
- Neonatal/pediatric intensive care unit transport ambulances (aka “Angel 1” and “Angel 2”)
- Therapeutic bears provide comfort to our young patients whether they are preparing for outpatient surgery, recovering from an injury or are hospitalized with an illness
- Craft supplies and other stress relieving activities for the hospital playrooms
- Clinics for children in need of specialized care for cancer, Spina Bifida and other diseases
- PICU i-STAT machines
- Capnograph CO2 monitors
- Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) incubators and bassinets
- Special car safety seats for NICU infants
- Preventative safety equipment – ski and bike helmets, safe sleep cribs, safe sleep “sleep sacks,” and a distracted driving simulator used for community education
- Care team access to educational resources in the areas of neonatal intensive care and pediatric surgery
- KidsHealth educational resources for patients and families
- Physical and occupational therapy programs and equipment
Meet the Kids
Every year, thousands of brave children and their families walk through the doors of MHBBCH. Their strength and ability to overcome life-threatening illnesses and injuries is not only a tribute to the care they receive at MHBBCH, but also serves as an inspiration to all of us. We invite you to meet just a few of these local heroes.
