Quality & Safety Fellowship

The MaineHealth Quality & Safety Fellowship is a one-year, non-accredited, full-time experiential learning program. Established in 2023, the fellowship immerses learners in all aspects of quality and safety at MaineHealth, with the opportunity to work up to 20% in a clinical or administrative moonlighting role.

Preparing future quality and safety leaders

This multidisciplinary program accepts applications from health care professionals with backgrounds as physicians, registered nurses, advanced practice professions, pharmacists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, registered dietitians and other allied health professionals.

Through faculty mentorship and experiential learning, this program prepares learners for future leadership roles in quality and safety. Fellows will be embedded in the MaineHealth integrated Quality and Safety department, participate in workgroup meetings, undergo Lean Green Belt training, and lead a longitudinal quality and safety project of their choosing.

They will become proficient in the core competencies of quality and safety, and at the fellowship’s completion will be well-positioned to sit for either the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or the Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) exam.
