Annual Campaign

Annual campaign donors at every giving level are critical to Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital. Contributions last year were instrumental in enabling us to enhance our facilities and services, from acquiring essential equipment to embarking on campus enhancement projects. Pictured below, Dr. Minal Cordeiro stands next to a Hana® Orthopedic Surgery Table which was purchased in the fall of 2023 thanks to a generous donor. The donor wanted his contribution to help recruit and retain top-notch providers, improve patient surgical outcomes and increase access to care. The new Hana® Orthopedic Surgery Table at Pen Bay has allowed surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures, including the anterior approach to total hip replacements, which had previously only been available at a few hospitals in the state. Dr. Cordeiro says of the Hana® Table, "The greatest benefit for our patients is that, in most cases, the anterior approach to total hip replacement will be a same day procedure, and patients experience less pain and faster recovery times. They can be walking with no assistance within a couple of days."

In addition, philanthropic contributions of close to $50,000 provided the opportunity for 17 care teams members to further their education which also helps us develop our workforce.

As we look to the future, we are focusing on three key areas:

  • Investing in equipment and technology
Prioritize the acquisition of critical medical equipment and technology, ensuring that we can meet the evolving needs of our patients.
  • Developing our workforce
Invest in the development of our workforce through expanded training opportunities and scholarship programs.
  • Implementing environmental sustainability initiatives
Further our dedication to environmental sustainability through projects like transitioning to energy-efficient LED lighting and improving insulation throughout our campuses.

How will my gift be recognized?

All gifts, regardless of the amount, help us with our mission to make our communities the healthiest in America. Every donor receives a written acknowledgment from the philanthropy department and every donor’s name is included in the annual report, unless anonymity is requested. We love to learn more about why our donors choose to support us, so we may also reach out via email or phone to tell you how much we appreciate you.

Your support has a tangible impact on the health and well-being of our community!

Thank you to all the care team members who contributed to help create the Healing Garden at Waldo County General Hospital and revitalize the Courtyard Gardens at Pen Bay Medical Center!

Our 2024 drive is focused on environmental sustainability efforts, equipment and technology and workforce development scholarships.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our 2024 Employee Drive, and we invite each of you to be a part of this exciting journey. This year, our focus is on three pivotal areas that will shape the future of our organization and our community: Environmental Sustainability, Equipment and Technology, and Workforce Development Scholarships.

  • Environmental Sustainability - Our commitment to a greener future is stronger than ever. This year, we aim to implement new initiatives that reduce our carbon footprint, promote recycling and conservation, and foster a culture of environmental responsibility. Your participation in this drive will help us support projects that make our workplace and community more sustainable.
  • Equipment and Technology - To stay at the forefront of healthcare innovation, investing in equipment and technology is crucial. This drive will enable us to enhance our facilities with cutting-edge tools and technology that improve patient care and streamline our operations. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to deliver the highest quality of care to our patients.
  • Workforce Development Scholarships - We believe in empowering our team with the knowledge and skills necessary for growth and success. By funding workforce development scholarships, we can provide opportunities for professional development and education, ensuring that our team members are well-equipped to meet the challenges of tomorrow. Your support will help us invest in our most valuable resource—our people.
