I am a pediatric hematologist/oncologist specializing in cancer survivorship health. Cancer survivorship is a relatively new and evolving field of medicine which addresses the long term side effects of cancer treatment which may occur years following therapy. Most childhood cancer survivors will have at least one “late effect” from treatment. I firmly believe that early identification and treatment of these late effects may lessen the impact on one’s health. I find this aspect of medicine very rewarding as it is a means to improve long term health in survivors of cancer.
