- Hospice and Palliative Medicine
My practice in Palliative Medicine is in an interdisciplinary team providing specialty care for patients and their families in the face of serious illness. Our practice focus is helping patients with serious illness or chronic complex illness live fully and to provide the multi-layered support during the entire illness trajectory. I added training and board certification in Hospice in Palliative Medicine mid-career after practicing pulmonary and critical care medicine for ten years where my specialty area was in the care of patients with lung cancer and advanced lung disease such as COPD. My primary practice is at Maine Medical Center where I serve as the Division Director of Palliative Medicine and as Clinical Assistant Professor Faculty. I have been working at Massachusetts General Hospital in a per diem role. I also serve as the Medical Director for Palliative Care at MaineHealth. My interests in Palliative Medicine include patient and family centered care, commitment to ethical and professional principals, and a system based approach to health care delivery and education to improve the access and value of palliative care across all care settings.
