Being a hospitalist is the best job in the world.  I love the opportunity it affords me to meet and care for a large variety of patients, and to help them navigate safely through a significant medical illness.  At the same time, I have always loved being a part of a hospital like Maine Medical Center that puts you squarely on the leading edge of health care, and gives you the chance to teach the next generation of physicians and improve the system of care at the same time.  Working with patients and families in this environment is incredibly rewarding, and that combined with the opportunity to help the hospital run more effectively is what makes being a physician such a wonderful job.
